WWII Press Release William Bullitt France 1940
Item: WWII4104

Original press release dated August 18, 1940 and marked "Confidential" by The Honorable William C. Bullitt.  He was the US ambassador to France in 1940 when the country fell to Nazi Germany.  He was a rather controversial figure who often defied and angered President Roosevelt.  The document discusses the French surrender and plans for the future.  There are nine pages.  Cover page is loose. Interesting document to read.
